Perlego Systems, Inc. provides end-to-end mobile device lifecycle management solutions which allow enterprises, resellers, and device manufacturers to effectively manage deployed smart wireless devices, regardless of platform or carrier. Horizons, their mobile device lifecycle management suite, leverages a software-as-a-service architecture and over-the-air technology for businesses to perform management processes. This includes updating installed software, issuing patches, and allowing clients to manage deployed wireless devices.
Business Need
Our client wanted to create a remote agent for BlackBerry smart devices to receive and run commands from a server, including a handheld wipe command removing all data from the device. As a solution, Akvelon created Remote BlackBerry Agent.
Solution
Our solution for Perlego provides real-time remote administration to one of the more popular mobile devices. Our unique software application, Remote BlackBerry Agent, was implemented in Java 2ME for a BlackBerry handheld device, with a variety of functions including push-feature support.
This application permits wireless control of BlackBerry devices and activation of the Perlego Platform domain. The latter enables remote commands from the server upon administrator request.
Our solution helps the client to:
- Deliver and display requested content using default applications
- Install new applications remotely
- Run existing applications remotely
- Perform handheld wipe
- Disable the device while wiping out all available data and breaking the OS
To meet the client’s needs, Akvelon’s solution was developed with a set of unique features:
- Invocation of a programmatically handheld wipe
- Silent application installation
Our solution provides remote installation of applications without any kind of user interaction, such as pop-up dialogs or confirmations.
